On Site Event Coordinator
LOCATION:Public Assembly Facilities – Bowman Gray Stadium/Fairgrounds
WORK SCHEDULE: IRREGULAR WORK HOURS/MOSTLY WEEKENDS
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under immediate supervision, this position will be assigned to the Public Assembly Facilities Events and Operations Coordinator, responsible for the planning and coordination of events and activities for the facilities including Winston-Salem Fairgrounds and Bowman Gray Stadium. The individual in this position will provide direct onsite assistance to the Event and Operations Coordinator and their events team and will oversee all onsite employees, to include ticket taker, ticket sellers, ASR’s, Crowd Control, etc. You will serve as the primary liaison between the facility, staff, and the Lessee for a wide variety of onsite events and activities. Events and activities will include, but are not limited to, collegiate basketball and football, major concert events, conventions, trade shows, civic events, the Carolina Classic Fair and ice rink operations. The position will provide assistance in ensuring that all requests of the Lessee are met while adhering to City Fairgrounds policies and procedures. Duties include, but are not limited to: implementing event information day-of events; reporting expenses and staff time during events; assist in conducting pre-event walk through to assure facility set-up, cleanliness, and safety as needed; on-site assistance at larger events; providing critique notes after event – communicating clearly verbally and in writing all facets of events as they pertain to each specific department; dealing with guests while providing world-class guest relations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or event planning. Special consideration shall be given to those candidates having facility operations, hotel operations, event related planning, people management and event management education and/or experience. Must have the ability to make good decisions when under pressure. Excellent organizational and communication with de-escalating confrontation skills are a must.

Be able to maneuver effectively within an office environment. This individual should be expected to work on their feet. Considerable walking on level surfaces as well as steps should be expected. Position is expected to work a flexible schedule to include nights, holidays and weekend hours.
