What: At the Magnet and Choice Showcase, people can learn more about schools through the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system. The goal of the event is to showcase all of the school options across the district, while highlighting them and what makes them unique. Students from certain schools wil perform throughout the day & will also be available to talk with potential students & parents about what makes their school special. This is in partnership with the Office of Choice & Magnet Schools, a new department within the school system that supports school choice options & magnet schools across the district.

This year’s event will have both an in-person and a virtual option, so you participate in whichever way is most comfortable for you. Virtual participants will have Thanksgiving Day through the following Sunday to complete their 5K or 1 mile and submit their results. You can either pick up your shirt and medal at packet pick up on Wednesday or you can add-on shipping during registration andit will be mailed to you.

Furniture City Kennel Club is located in High Point, North Carolina. The AKC club hosts an all-breed dog show each year in early November.

The Furniture City Kennel Club is a AKC sanctioned club was established circa 1951. Mrs. Edens and her daughter Maxine French were the early leaders.
The show was held at the Jamestown fairgrounds on the Saturday before Labor Day until the early 70’s when it moved to the exhibition hall at the Greensboro Coliseum. It stayed there until it moved to the Jim Graham Building in Raleigh. A second show was established in the late 70’s and was held at City Lake Park in High Point.
After becoming a member of AKC, James R. White, noted multiple group judge was elected as its first delegate. Other members of note were superintendents Barbara Moss Inman and Jean Whitt.
Rules and regulations for the club are outlined by the American Kennel Club (AKC). Current meetings are held the second Monday of each month at the Keller Williams Realty office located at 665N. Main St. in High Point. The meetings starting at 7 pm.
