Description:

Under regular supervision by the City’s Venue and Facilities Manager, performs responsible professional work in developing the Fairgrounds brand and image by coordinating sponsorships, business meeting sales, marketing (to include website, social media, radio, television), media and community relationships, both internally and externally, within the community for the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds.  This person will be the liaison between the fairgrounds, other City public event facilities and local business networking groups.

Examples of Duties:

 

  • Develops and coordinates effective marketing, branding, and sponsorship opportunities
  • Selling and solicitation of meeting space for the purpose of promoting various events at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, Carolina Classic Fair and other City facilities as assigned;
  • Creates and maintain relationships with local networking organizations;
  • Creates and maintains local media relationships, including press releases;
  • Provide event and marketing support; prepares and implements contracts for meeting events, prepares special reports and performs special projects as assigned;
  • Manage special events and programming related to Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Farmers Market
  • Primary website manager, social media editor, and email marketing management;
  • Supports in planning with internal staff teambuilding, communication, and social strategy’s;
  • Assists in capturing photo and video content for development of event collateral and promotion;
  • Manages internal and external community event calendars and relationships;
  • Manage event signage and special client instruction for events.
  • Supports in creation of graphic, artwork, and event brand management
  • Onsite media representative

 

Typical Qualifications:

Education and Experience:  Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, or similar field of study.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Strong and clear communication skills both written and verbal, strong interpersonal and networking skills, ability to thrive and work effectively as an individual within a fast pace small team setting, ability to remain self-motivated and goal oriented.  Ability to lift up to 15 lbs

Flexibility to work nights and weekends and 40 plus hours per week.  Graphic production with Canva or similar program is a plus.
